The main accused in Bihar's infamous 'topper scam', Amit Kumar, alias 'Bachcha' Rai, has been fielded as a candidate by Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen for the Bihar assembly elections.
Amid mounting pressure with regard to alleged irregularities in the class 12 examinations in Bihar, Vishun Roy College director-cum-principal Bachcha Rai -- who had been absconding ever since his name cropped up in the case being probed by the Special Investigation Team -- surrendered on Saturday.
The Bihar State Examination Board Class 12 arts topper was on Saturday taken into custody by Patna Police's Special Investigation Team soon after she failed the re-test.
"I am going to seek more information on this and take action. A similar case had come to the fore even earlier and we re-examined all those whose names were in the top 10 list," he said.
